President Ruto Makes 5 Major Appointments

President William Ruto has appointed the Chairperson and Members of the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ).

In a gazette notice dated December 5, the head of state has also appointed members of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) Board, and the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC).

The appointments follow the requisite parliamentary approval processes.

Ruto Appoints IPOA Board

Former Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Issack Hassan has been appointed as IPOA chairperson. 

Hassan will work alongside Dr Annette Mudola Mbogoh, Kenwillians Nyakomita, Ann Wanjiku Mwangi, Boniface Kipkemoi Samai, Jackline Lukalo Mwenesi, John Muchiri Nyaga, and Dr Micah Onyiego Nyakeyo.

Ruto has appointed them to be members of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority. Hassan was approved by the National Assembly to step into the role on November 27.

He served as the Chairperson of IEBC from November 2011 to October 6, 2016.

Moreover, he is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with 30 years of experience as a legal practitioner and consultant in various countries including Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Namibia, and Afghanistan.

Hassan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) from the University of Nairobi, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

Also, he holds a Diploma in Contemporary Public Administration Management from Galilee International Management Institute, Israel.

Newly Appointed IPOA Board

Additionally, former Isiolo Woman Representative Rehema Dida Jaldesa has been appointed the chairperson of the National Gender and Equality Commission.

The head of state has appointed Michael Methinka Nzomo to be a member of the National Gender and Equality Commission.

Charles Orinda Dulo has been appointed to be the chairperson of the Commission on Administrative Justice.

Moreover, Charles Njagua Kanyi and Dorothy Jemator Kimengech has been appointed to be members of the Commission on Administrative Justice.
