President William Ruto has held a consultative meeting with Education Ministry stakeholders led by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba.
The meeting was held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, evening at the State House, Nairobi, ahead of the official release of the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.
The briefing is a standard procedure before the public announcement of national examination results and signals that the KCSE 2025 results are likely to be released on Thursday, January 8.
Traditionally, the President must be formally briefed by the Ministry of Education and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) before the results are officially made public.
The meeting came as President Ruto prepares for a busy public schedule on Thursday, including presiding over activities linked to the second phase of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project, whose business start-up capital disbursement begins on January 8 across 27 counties.
KNEC activates provisional results checker
Following the meeting, President Ruto in a statement said that the government is “recruiting 24,000 teachers who will report to classrooms later this month.”
“This brings the total number of teachers hired since 2023 to 100,000, strengthening teaching and learning in our schools and, consequently, improving educational outcomes,” he said.
The President hosted the meeting a day after KNEC activated its official online results-checking portal ahead of the release of the 2025 KCSE results.
A review of the official platform shows that the interface is live, displaying a notice indicating that provisional results will only be accessible after the official announcement.
“The 2025 KCSE Examination Provisional Results will be available after Official release.”
According to KNEC, once the results are formally released, candidates will be able to instantly access their provisional results online by entering their KCSE index number and selecting the 2025 examination year on the official results portal.

The system allows candidates to view, download, and print their results slips, although temporary delays may occur due to high traffic immediately after release.
The activation of the portal signals the final stages of preparation by the examination body as anticipation builds nationwide.
2025 KCSE examination
The 2025 KCSE examinations were conducted between October 21 and November 21, 2025, with oral and practical assessments preceding the written theory papers.
A total of 996,078 candidates were registered for the 2025 KCSE examinations, which formed part of a broader national assessment cycle involving more than 3.4 million learners across KCSE, the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), and the inaugural Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).
During the examination period, the Ministry of Education recorded 418 cases of malpractice, a decline from 614 cases reported in 2024.
Earlier, CS Ogamba confirmed that the KCSE 2025 results would be released in January 2026 and dismissed claims circulating on social media alleging an early release or naming a top-performing school as false and misleading.

He said the marking exercise was completed on December 13, 2025, involving 32,558 examiners deployed across 40 marking centres nationwide.
KCSE results are reported using a 12-point grading scale, with subject grades converted into numerical points to compute a candidate’s overall mean grade.
The final mean grade is calculated from the best seven subjects and determines eligibility for various post-secondary education pathways.
The 2025 KCSE examination is among the final cycles under the 8-4-4 education system as Kenya continues its transition to the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework, with Grade 9 learners expected to transition to senior school from January 2026.
