President William Ruto has jetted out of the country again 5 days after he attended the Ghana’s President inauguration Dramani Mahama.
In a statement on Saturday, Hussein Mohamed said President William Ruto departed on Saturday January 11 for a one-day official visit to Kampala, Uganda, to attend the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the Post-Malabo Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).

“President William Ruto departs this morning for a one-day official visit to Kampala, Uganda, to attend the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the Post-Malabo Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP),” read part of the statement.
CAADP is a key initiative under the AU Agenda 2063, aimed at eradicating hunger and poverty through agriculture-led development while transforming Africa’s agri-food systems.

Ruto jets out of the country to attend African Union Extraordinary Summit in Uganda
The summit will assess progress toward the set targets and seek to adopt the Kampala Declaration, which outlines a shared vision for transforming agri-food systems from 2026 to 2035.
According to the State House Spokesperson, the summit’s outcomes are expected to shape agricultural policies that drive economic growth and achieve food security across the continent.

Hussein further noted that President Ruto will showcase Kenya’s efforts to enhance food security, reduce poverty, create jobs, and promote sustainable growth.

Additionally, the President will emphasize how CAADP aligns with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda and Vision 2030, reaffirming the country’s commitment to agricultural transformation.
On the sidelines of the summit, President Ruto will meet with President Yoweri Museveni and other leaders to advance regional priorities.
Moreover, Hussein stated that the talks will also focus on building consensus and support for President Ruto’s role as Champion of AU Institutional Reforms ahead of his inaugural progress report on the reform agenda.
The Head of State’s visit to Uganda marks his second trip outside the country since the beginning of 2025, following his visit to Ghana.
The Head of State attends Ghana’s President elect Inauguration
On Monday afternoon, President Ruto departed for Accra, Ghana, to attend the inauguration ceremony of Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama.
President Ruto’s visit to Ghana was due to a special invitation from Mahama during his trip to Kenya on December 29, 2024.

In addition to attending the inauguration, the head of state visit to Ghana aimed to engage in discussions with President-elect on several key areas of mutual interest.
These discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in sectors such as energy, oil, textiles, trade, agriculture, and diplomatic relations.
