President William Ruto is set to leave the country for official visits to Spain and the United Kingdom, where he is expected to champion global financial reforms and seal a series of strategic bilateral deals aimed at boosting Kenya’s economy and global standing.
The head of state’s trip kicks off in Seville, Spain, where he will attend the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development.
The high-level summit brings together world leaders to forge new frameworks for sustainable development funding amid rising global economic challenges.
Ruto is scheduled to co-chair a session and meet with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and King Felipe VI. Discussions will focus on clean energy, climate resilience, and youth empowerment as Kenya seeks stronger bilateral ties with Spain.
Following his engagements in Spain, President Ruto will travel to London to join newly elected UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in signing the renewed Kenya-UK Strategic Partnership 2025–2030.

The agreement, built on pillars of trade, climate, technology, and security, is set to unlock over £1.5 billion in investment and double trade between the two nations by the end of the decade.
Ruto Visit Spain & UK
The partnership prioritizes flagship projects such as the Nairobi Railway City; a major urban redevelopment plan aimed at modernizing the capital’s central business district.
Kenya also hopes to benefit from new digital skills programs, support for start-ups and SMEs, and collaboration in emerging technologies including artificial intelligence.
Ruto will also witness Lloyd’s of London announce the establishment of a regional underwriting hub in Nairobi under the Nairobi International Financial Centre (NIFC).

The move is expected to cement the city’s position as a financial gateway for Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Africa Debate Address
While in the UK, Ruto will deliver the keynote address at The Africa Debate, hosted by Invest Africa, where he is expected to pitch Kenya’s economic transformation agenda to global investors.
The president’s trip comes at a time when Kenya is looking to reposition itself as a regional economic powerhouse and thought leader in global reform conversations on climate finance and multilateralism.
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said the visit reflects Kenya’s growing influence on the international stage and commitment to sustainable, inclusive development.
