President William Ruto has responded to Catholic Bishops after their criticism of his administration over unexplained killings, abductions, widespread corruption, and a growing culture of deception.
In a statement, the bishops, under the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), criticized the government for fostering an environment where citizens have become accustomed to the lies propagated by politicians.
Ruto who was attending a graduation ceremony at the Tangaza University asked members of the clergy to be careful of what they discuss publicly.
“Even as we engage in public discourse in matters that are important to the people of Kenya, we must be careful to be factual lest we become victims of the things we accuse others of doing,” said the President as the crowd burst into laughter.
Ruto pledges Ksh 50 million to Tangaza University
Ruto praised Tangaza’s commitment to nurturing students who are not only well-prepared academically but also equipped to be good citizens, dedicated servants, and visionary leaders.
“This is an important accomplishment, and I commend you for it because values matter as much as knowledge and skills. All educational institutions must recognize and embrace the opportunity and the responsibility to prepare learners to contribute meaningfully to a better world,” Ruto said.

“All the financial and administrative reforms undertaken so far, along with the introduction of a Student-Centered Funding Model, are vital steps to guarantee that every qualified learner can access the degree or diploma of their choice.
Students from Tangaza University, like all Kenyan learners, are eligible to apply for loans under this new model. Regrettably, the model is temporarily suspended because it has been challenged in court, but I am optimistic that these issues will soon be resolved, enabling students to access the financial support they need to pursue their studies without disruption,” Ruto said.
