A fatal road accident has claimed the lives of seven people along the Keroka-Sotik road in Nyamira County.
The tragic incident occurred near the Kijauri area when a truck overturned on Friday afternoon, leaving a matatu completely dismantled.
In videos seen by The Kenya Times, residents were seen rushing to rescue the victims. More images from the scene showed the front of the car severely crushed and defaced.
The lorry was carrying logs and lost control, crashing into vehicles, pedestrians, and roadside hawkers.
Kijauri in Nyamira County Road Accident
Kijauri has emerged as a hotspot following a series of accidents along the Sotik–Keroka stretch.
On Sunday, June 8, 2025, a deadly crash took place near the Keroka Sub-County Hospital in Nyamira County. A police report indicated that a PSV matatu collided with two motorcycles before plunging into a ditch. According to the police report, three people died.
In November 2024, one person was killed in a road accident at Kijauri, Nyamira, after two vehicles collided.

Elsewhere, a teacher from Mikindani Primary School in Jomvu died after a tragic road accident on the evening of Thursday, July 3, in Mombasa County.
The accident occurred in the Maasai area along the Taita Taveta–Mombasa highway.
The teacher was accompanying the students on their way from Kenyatta High School, where they had participated in the regional music and drama festival.
Two students were left with severe injuries while 10 others suffered minor injuries in the accident.
The injured students were taken to the Mikindani Medical for treatment.

MCA Dies in Tragic Road Accident
A Member of the Nyandarua County Assembly, Beth Wahito, died following a tragic accident on the Nairobi-Nakuru Road.
The news of her sudden passing was confirmed on June 22 by Assembly Speaker Wachira Waiganjo, who expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the Assembly.
Speaker Wahito eulogized her as a leader who entered public service at a time when few women held positions of influence, first serving as a councillor in the defunct Nyandarua County Council, and later as a specially elected MCA in the First and Third County Assemblies.
