Star Journalist Dickens Wasonga is dead. The news of his demise was shared by Kisumu City Manager Abala Wanga, among other journalist mourning him online.
Wasonga was involved in a head on collision along the Kakamega- Kisumu Road early morning on January 26.
At the time of his death, Wasonga was a Production Director with Radio Nam Lolwe, and the Chairman of the Kisumu Journalists Network (KJN).
“My sincere heartfelt condolences to my friend Dickens Wasonga, Star Journalist who has passed on this morning from a grisly road accident on the Kakamega-Mamboleo Highway, Kisumu,” Abala Wanga stated.

Friends Eulogize Star Journalist Dickens Wasonga
The deceased had been described as an outgoing person who had interacted with many respectable persons in the greater Nyanza region and earned the respect of many administrators.
Additionally, his sudden death has come as a shock to many of his colleagues and friends.
Odhiambo Otieno mourned the late journalist stating that he was a “prolific writer” who nurtured him and many others on news reporting.
“My heartfelt condolences to Kisumu journalists Network for the untimely death of our chairman, may your soul rest in peace,” he added.
Wasonga was a vibrant leader who had proposed the establishment of an independent Nyanza news website to serve journalists who were not affiliated with media houses.

East FM Presenter Dies
Earlier in November 2023, East FM breakfast radio presenter Aleem Manji was reported dead after serving at the Indian broadcasting station for over 15 years.
Manji was eulogized as a warm and loving person who cared deeply about his friends and colleagues at the station.
“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the sudden demise of our breakfast presenter Aleem Manji.
“We will miss you Aleem. Over 15 years of laughter, warmth, and immense joy. Your calmness and smile will be missed dearly,” the station eulogized him.
