Super Metro Limited has confirmed reports of an incident involving one of its buses on February 24, 2026, at around 11:00 PM in Kitengela.
In a statement on February 26, Super Metro reported that the bus in question, registration KDK 060H, en route from Kitengela to Nairobi CBD with 32 passengers, was stopped by a mob of angry boda boda riders.
“Super Metro Limited is aware of reports concerning a serious incident that allegedly occurred on 24/2/26 in Kitengela at 11pm. Our vehicle KDK 060H enroute from Kitengela to Nairobi CBD with 32 passengers on board was stopped by an irate mob of boda boda riders claiming that the conductor had pushed a passenger from the bus. This came as a surprise to all on board,” read part of the statement.
The riders alleged that the bus conductor had pushed a passenger from the vehicle, which was a shock to passengers on board.
According to the company, preliminary information of the incident resulted to a fatality. The vehicle is currently held at Athi river police station, driver and conductor are in police custody.
Super Metro Responds to Death of a Passenger Ejected from Speeding Bus
The transport company stated that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) as investigations into the circumstances continue.
Additionally, Super Metro is conducting an internal review to determine whether any company policies or procedures contributed to the incident and to identify potential safety improvements.
Super Metro expressed deep sorrow over the reported loss of life, stating that its thoughts are with the families and loved ones affected.
The company assured the public that passenger, employee, and community safety remain a top priority.
Members of the public with relevant information have been urged to contact the law enforcement authorities to provide any details.

Joseph Mureithi Thrown Out of Super Metro Bus
Earlier, the family of the victim, Joseph Mureithi, demanded authorities to take action after he was pushed from a Super Metro bus on the Kitengela–Namanga Highway.
Witnesses reported that moments after Mureithi was ejected, the bus ran over him and sped off, leaving him fatally injured by the roadside.

Passengers claimed the vehicle was overcrowded and that the crew appeared chaotic and confrontational before the incident occurred less than a kilometre from the stage.
“He boarded the bus, and it moved off. When we reached the lower part, chaos broke out, and the young man was pushed from the bus and fell to the ground. At first, I thought he had just fallen lightly, but when we got there, his head was split open,” reported one of the witnesses.
Patrick Muthomi, a family member of the deceased, condemned the bus crew’s actions, saying the incident could have been avoided and expressing anger over the loss of their relative.
