A total number of seven people have been confirmed dead following two separate accidents. In the first accident, three people died after a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) bus they were travelling in crashed along the Londiani-Kisumu highway.
A Police report seen by The Kenya Times indicated that several other passengers were injured in the Saturday, January 11, morning accident involving the Dreamline bus which was heading towards Kisumu from the Londiani direction.
It was reported that the accident happened at around 04:20 am when the driver of the bus ferrying 44 passengers from Mombasa to Busia lost control of the vehicle.
According to preliminary reports, the bus driver lost control while negotiating a sharp bend, causing the vehicle to crash and land on its left side.
Photos seen by The Kenya Times showed the overturned bus heavily damaged on one side, with first responders at the scene.

Tragically, three people lost their lives at the scene-two adults and one child-who were confirmed dead on the spot.

The rest of the passengers were left with serious injuries and promptly rushed to Londiani Sub- County hospital where they are receiving treatment.
Traffic personnel quickly arrived at the scene to help in the evacuation efforts of the passengers inside the wreckage.
The driver, who survived the crash, is currently in custody and is being interrogated by Police.
Four dead in accident involving school bus
In the second accident that happened on Friday night, four people died following a crash involving a school bus and a PSV matatu along the Kapsabet – Eldoret highway.
The crash occurred at around 8:00 pm at Mutwot area when the matatu which was being driven from Kapsabet direction towards Eldoret veered from its lane before colliding with a school bus belonging to Cheptabach Secondary School.
As a result, the matatu driver, two passengers and a child died on the spot. An unknown number of passengers in both vehicles were rushed to different hospitals in the region.
The two accidents are notably among road crashes which have been reported this year that have left behind casualties and fatalities.
Last week, two people were confirmed dead and several others injured following a tragic accident that occurred on Sunday, January 5 along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.
The incident happened following a head-on collision between an Eldoret Shuttle Nissan matatu and a Nairobi-bound matatu bus near the Prison Bridge in Naivasha.
Five people sustained serious injuries from the tragic accident.
“Let’s have a very open conversation this year, is head-on collision avoidable? Head-on collision between Eldoret Shuttle Nissan matatu and a Nairobi bound matatu bus at Naivasha near prison bridge,” Sikika Road safety said.
“Two have lost their lives at the scene while other 5 have serious injuries.”
10 dead in horrific crash
Two days before the Eldoret Shuttle matatu accident, ten other people had perished in an accident along the Eldoret-Kitale highway.

This is after a matatu plying the Eldoret-Kitale route collided head-on with a lorry at the Chemoset area in Soy.
The incident was confirmed by Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi who stated that four other passengers sustained injuries.
He added that the injured passengers were rushed to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret for treatment.
According to witnesses, the driver of the lorry, which was heading towards Kitale, lost control and hit the oncoming matatu from its side at Chemoset junction, killing the driver and eight passengers on the spot.
Police reported that one of the five survivors died upon arrival at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret, where they had been rushed for specialized care rising the death toll to ten.
