CBK Announces Auction of Tyres, Buckets, Brooms & Assorted Equipment: How to Bid

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has announced the public auction of vehicle accessories, tyres, buckets, brooms, and other assorted equipment.

In a notice on Thursday, July 18 the CBK said the auction will be conducted in collaboration with Garam Investments Auctioneers.

“Duly instructed by Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), Garam Investments Auctioneers, shall sell by public auction the under mentioned goods at the Central Bank Institute of Monetary Studies (former KSMS) football pitch,” reads part of the notice.

The auction will also include a large assortment of computer equipment such as iPads, laptops, central processing units (CPUs), monitors, servers, and server cabinets.

Additionally, CBK will be selling printers, scanners, copiers, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) accessories, and note counting machines.

Furthermore, the Bank has put up a large selection of office furniture items for auction, including office desks, chairs, CPU holders, dining sets, shredder machines, and fans.

More Items on Sale

CBK also intends to sell cleaning and housekeeping items such as dispensers, brushes, and assorted cleaning machine accessories.

Meanwhile, metallic luggage carriers, plastic jerrycans, and metallic lockable cabinets are also available for sale.

Other items on the auction list include assorted crockery and cutlery, kitchen equipment such as cookers, ovens, and water dispensers, as well as a large assortment of electrical items and equipment.

Viewing and Auction Dates

Prospective bidders can view the items on sale from July 27 to August 2, 2024, during normal working hours. However, the bidders must schedule an appointment for viewing.

To make a booking, they will contact Garam Investments Auctioneers, who will coordinate with the CBK Head Office.

The auction will take place on Monday, August 5, 2024, from 10:30 AM at the CBK Institute of Monetary Studies (former KSMS), Thika Road, Nairobi. 

CBK Outlines Conditions for Sale

The sale of the items will be on an “AS-IS-WHERE-IS-BASIS” and subject to set reserve prices.

Detailed catalogues may be obtained from Garam Investments Auctioneers’ offices for a fee of Ksh 200. Alternatively, the catalogue may be downloaded from the auctioneers’ website free of charge.

All intending bidders shall make a refundable bidding deposit of Ksh 20,000 to Garam Investments Auctioneers.

Alternatively, the catalogue may be downloaded from the Auctioneers Website free of charge.

Upon payment, a receipt will be issued, which must be used to obtain a bidding number. Also note that participation is not allowed without a bidding number.

Access to the auction venue will be strictly limited to two representatives per bidder, both having a catalogue and a bidding number.

Successful bidders must pay the balance of the bid price (less the Ksh 20,000 deposit) within fourteen (14) days after the auction. Failure to pay the balance within the stipulated period will result in forfeiture of any amounts paid.

The successful bidder will make payments for the goods through direct deposit into a designated Central Bank account number, which will be communicated through the auctioneer.

However, cash deposits can be made directly at the Central Bank or through a commercial bank.

Arrangements for collection shall be communicated to CBK through the Auctioneers and successful bidders will be allowed to remove their goods one at time and by scheduled appointment only.

Consequently, failure to remove goods on the above stipulated time shall result to storage charges of Ksh 500.00 per day per Lot.
