The East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has announced the appointment of Andrew Kilonzo as the new managing director for Kenya Breweries Limited following changes in its management.
Kilonzo is the immediate Managing Director for Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL).
He will succeed Mark Ocitti, who will be stepping down from the role effective September 30, 2025.
“I want to thank Mark Ocitti for his invaluable contribution and welcome Andrew Kilonzo, and Yvonne Mwangi into their new roles. I am confident this leadership team will continue to steer EABL’s performance, deepen our market penetration, and champion inclusion and diversity at all levels of our business,” said EABL Group Managing Director Jane Karuku.
According to the brewer, Kilonzo has been instrumental in leading the growth and transformation of the EABL business across the region.
EABL has further appointed Yvonne Mwangi, who currently serves as Managing Director, Seychelles and Indian Oceans, as the company’s Commercial Director for Kenya, effective October 1, 2025.
Yvonne brings over 15 years of commercial, marketing, and strategy experience.
“These appointments reflect EABL’s strong succession pipeline and our continued investment in leadership development across our markets. I am proud of the depth of talent we can draw from within our business and the Diageo network,” Karuku added.

The new changes come following the resignation of John Musunga as a Director of EABL effective March 18, 2025, an announcement which was made by the company’s board.
John Musunga Resigns as EABL Director
Before joining Diageo in March 2021 as Managing Director of Kenya Breweries Limited, Musunga held a number of senior management positions at GlaxoSmithkline, both globally and regionally.
“The Board of Directors of East African Breweries PLC hereby announces the resignation of Mr. John Musunga as a Director of the Company with effect from 18th March 2025. John has served as a Director since July 2023,” read part of the notice.
“The Board takes this opportunity to thank John for his vibrant, and insightful contributions in the deliberations of the Board as well as the Corporate Governance Committee meetings, and his exemplary commitment to consumers and the community.”

At the same time, EABL announced the appointment of Lorna Benton as a Non-Executive Director, effective March 18, 2025.
Lorna is the Group Performance and Reward Director at Diageo PLC, a position she has held since April 2023.
She has previously led Global Reward for WPP PLC and Compass Group PLC, holding senior executive positions.
In addition, Benton serves as an Independent Member of the Remuneration Committee of the Rugby Football Union.
Lorna is a seasoned Financial Times Stock Exchange (FTSE) 10 Global Reward Director with experience in employee relations, performance management, diversity and inclusion, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
