The Nairobi Expressway is a 27.1-kilometre toll road, elevated and at-grade, located in Nairobi, Kenya. It runs along the busy Mombasa Road–Uhuru Highway–Waiyaki Way corridor, connecting Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Westlands.
This road was developed to ease traffic congestion on one of the city’s most heavily used transport routes.
The Nairobi expressway operates as a tolled facility, with motorists required to pay fees based on the distance travelled.
Toll collection is managed through both electronic and manual systems at designated entry and exit points.
Nairobi Expressway Toll Rates by Distance
The Nairobi Expressway uses a distance-based toll system, with charges varying depending on the entry and exit points.
Short trips between nearby interchanges, such as Mlolongo to Syokimau or Syokimau to SGR, cost Ksh 120. Medium-distance trips range between Ksh 170 and Ksh 250, while longer trips across central Nairobi and Westlands have a maximum toll of Ksh 330.
