The Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) has once again captured the attention of travelers, raking in Ksh2.6 million within hours of releasing tickets priced at Ksh12,000 for trips to Mombasa.
This surge in ticket sales comes on the heels of the Mazingira Day holiday, prompting a wave of demand as Kenyans seek convenient transportation to the coast.
The SGR features four premium coaches, each designed to accommodate 28 passengers.
With each passenger paying Ksh12,000 for a ticket, the total revenue generated per trip reaches an impressive Ksh1.34 million.
Additionally, it operates two premium trains daily, departing at 3:00pm and 10: oopm.
The Kenya Times has learnt that the 10pm train from Nairobi to Mombasa is already fully booked with the 3pm train having less than 10 seats available at the time of publishing.
