The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced one hundred and six job opportunities in various fields.
In a notice on July 23, PSC said the positions are available across various ministries and state departments with different grades.
At the same time, the Commission invited interested and qualified candidates to apply for the positions.
“Applications are invited from qualified persons for the positions shown below,” reads part of the notice.
The available positions include roles such as Secretary of Lands and Director of Land Valuation, both under the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, with each having one vacancy at grade CSG 4.
Additionally, the state seeks to recruit a Secretary of Forest Development, a Director of Agroforestry, and several Deputy Directors for Forest Management and Conservation, with a total of seven positions available in that role, all at different grades.

In addition, there are openings for two Assistant Directors in Ecological Restoration and nine Assistant Directors in Forest Management and Conservation, along with a Director of Fisheries and Blue Economy seeking to fill two vacancies at grade CSG 5.
Furthermore, PSC is looking for a Deputy Government Chemist in the Mining sector, with one position available at CSG 6, and two Assistant Government Chemists at grade CSG 7. The ministry is also hiring an Inspector for Drilling, with four positions available at grade CSG 12.
Moreover, the ministry seeks to fill a Director of Shipping and Maritime position and a Deputy Director for Road and Railway Transport Services, with one and two vacancies, respectively.

In addition, they require a Principal Research Officer and several roles in the Gender and Affirmative Action sector, including a Director Gender and Principal Gender Officer, with opportunities across multiple grades.
Further, the ministry is inviting applications for roles in Film Services, including a Director of Film Services, a Deputy Director of Film Services, and an Assistant Director of Film Services, with a total of nine vacancies across these positions.
Additionally, a Senior Principal Superintendent for Electronics, a Deputy Sports Registrar, and a Principal Sports Registrar, are needed in the Sports sector.

Interested and qualified candidates are urged to apply online through the Commission’s website at www.publicservice.go.ke or the jobs portal at www.psckjobs.go.ke, where candidates can submit their applications before the deadline on 13 August 2024, at 5.00pm.
Ruto Dissolves 47 Parastatals
Aside, on July 5, President William Ruto announced measures to reduce expenditure in the government following the withdrawal of the Finance Bill 2024.
Further, Ruto suspended hiring of Chief Administrative Secretaries (CASs). He also noted that the number of advisors in government will also be reduced by 50pc within the public service, with immediate effect.
Additionally, Ruto stated that 47 State Corporations with overlapping and duplicative functions will be liquidated, eliminating their operational and maintenance costs, and their functions will be incorporated into their respective line ministries.
Before Ruto fire Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria when he dissolved his cabinet, the CS had suspended recruitment within the civil service.
“The purpose of this letter is to request you to suspend new and ongoing recruitment, including ongoing interviews for shortlisted candidates in public service, as you await the establishment of the tripartite committee to clear the most critical requests in line with the fiscal reality in the country,” Kuria said in a letter to PSC chairperson Anthony Muchiri.
According to Kuria, the government was to conduct payroll audit during the suspension.
