Kenya Power has said they did not disconnect electricity at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The power company rebutted the allegations by a section of Mombasa County MCAs that it disconnected power to the hospital due to a pending bill of Sh120 million.
Moreover, a section of the Mombasa MCAs gathered at the facility on Tuesday to complain to Kenya Power for allegedly disconnecting electricity at the hospital.
Nonetheless, Kenya Power has accused Mombasa County Government employees of confiscation two of their vehicles that were dispatched to restore electricity at the Coast General Referral Hospital.
“On Tuesday, a line supplying power to the Coast General Hospital and its environs tripped and upon restoration, the hospital remained without supply because of faulty equipment that resulted from a flashover on the unit supplying electricity to the hospital.” Part of the statement by Kenya Power reads.

“This situation was not rectified immediately, as our team could not access the site because the Mombasa County officials impounded our vehicles,’ the statement reads further.
Nevertheless, after several attempts, the power company managed to restore power at the referral Hospital 15 minutes past 7 in the evening.
Furthermore, KPLC in their press statement apologized to the facility for any inconvenience that may have been caused.
