President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of condolence to the family of the late Samuel Nguru Matu, an ex-military officer who was his father’s, President Jomo Kenyatta’s, Aide De Camp (ADC).
In a statement released on Sunday, July 31, Uhuru said Ngure passed on at his home in Nakuru County aged 82 years old.
The President eulogized his father’s ADC as a patriotic Kenyan who served the country diligently in various positions.
“We will forever cherish Lt. Col. (Rtd) Samuel Ngure Matu for his commitment to the service of our beloved country. His diligence and skills earned him a position as Chief Security Officer at Toyota Kenya Ltd after retiring from the military.
“We thank God for having given him to us as a gift. We appreciate his service to the community, especially the role he played in church and in the Military Officers Association,” Uhuru said.
Ngure was tasked with serving as the personal assistant to President Jomo Kenyatta and bringing the Head of State up to speed with what was happening countrywide.
The Aide De Camp is also entrusted with receiving gifts and other items on behalf of the president as well as escorting him (President) from the State House into a waiting car.
The escort should also secure the Head of State’s personal items including mobile phones among others.
