The rise of Insecurity cases across the country should be blamed on the government,the Kenya Kwanza coalition has said.
Kenya Kwanza Deputy Presidential candidate Rigathi Gachagua has accused government of being sluggish in handling insecurity cases in the country.
Gachagua lashed at President Uhuru Kenyatta and Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi for allegedly neglecting their roles.
Speaking in Laikipia, Gachagua said the insecurity situation in the area could be handled had the government acted promptly.
He claimed that the Head of State and Matiangi fail to act promptly at the time when they were required to.
“The Interior Minister who is also tasked to deal with such insecurity cases was negligent, “he said.
He added “He claims to be a performer, but I want to tell Kenyans that his job is just to get fat”.
Gachagua noted he and the people of Laikipia will forgive the Head of State for many other wrongs but not on the deaths that were caused by the insecurity in the region.
The North Rift region has in the recent past witnessed a series of insecurity incidences with local leaders accusing the government of failing to protect its people.
A security operation is underway in areas of Samburu, Isiolo ,Baringo, West-pokot and Laikipia counties.
The operation is aimed at weeding out illegal firearms from the pastoral communities in the areas.
Cattle rustling, fight over grazing fields and watering points has been blamed for the never-ending conflicts.
The Mathira MP has been on Matiangi’s case in all his campaign trips.
He has been accusing the CS of misusing the security apparatus to target those opposed to government ideologies
The Kenya Kwanza coalition has promised to re-look into the welfare of the police including reviewing their salaries.
