Sakaja Announces Construction of Night club at Uhuru Park; Gives Reason

Sakaja has reiterated that entry to the park will be free for all Kenyans.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced the construction of a nightclub at Uhuru Park to minimize noise within residential estates.

Governor Sakaja said that the move would give people an alternative to the opening of nightclubs in the estates.

Sakaja was speaking during the official handing over ceremony of the newly revitalized Uhuru and Central Parks by the Ministry of Defense to the County Government of Nairobi.

“There is a nightclub that is going to be here at the park. We agreed that making noise within estates must stop. You can come here and scream until the cows come home. That is the zone, do your partying here,” he said.

“We want to do a dancing fountain at Ksh156 million,” said Sakaja.

The governor also indicated that the park would have manual gym equipment and two basketball courts.

According to the governor, much of the remaining additional work will be fully funded by the county government and is expected to be done within the next nine months.

Duale also revealed that security has also been enhanced by erecting a perimeter wall, installation of gates and a visitors’ management system.

Other facilities in the park according to the CS include a skating park, container restaurants, outdoor libraries and reading areas as well as ablution facilities.

CS Duale further highlighted the innovation of the culturally symbolic Nyatiti Water Feature and construction of walkways and jogging tracks.

The park also features adequate picturesque lighting that was installed to ease movement in the park and improving security.

Governor Sakaja and CS Duale signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which is a legal framework that shall guide the transition process.
