Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a youth in connection with the murder of his employer.
DCI in a statement on Tuesday, November 12 said that the 21-year-old man is believed to have murdered his employer on Sunday at Njathaini area of Kasarani before going into hiding. The suspect was smoked out of his hideout at Valley area of Kinoo in Kiambu County.
“In the sad incident reported at Njathaini Police Station, the deceased’s body was discovered sprawled at her homestead, and the suspect, a casual laborer at the home, missing,” part of the statement by DCI reads.
The directorate further said that the arrest happened when officers from Nairobi regional headquarters who were acting on intelligence proceeded to Kinoo, where the suspect was being harbored by his cousin, a 22-year-old youth.
After interrogating the suspects, detectives furthered the investigation to Githurai 44, where they recovered the mobile phone of the murdered employer at a phone repair shop belonging to another 22-year-old.

The three suspects have been booked at Kasarani Police Station ahead of their arraignment, as detectives seek to unearth the motive behind the heinous murder.
Meanwhile, DCI detectives have arrested another suspect linked to the murder of 24-year-old Millicent Mwendwa in Chuka.
The directorate in a statement on Thursday said that the murder suspect who gruesomely murdered Millicent, his wife, at Mugirirwa area of Chuka in Meru South, was arrested after months of evading police dragnet.
He was arrested in a sting operation at Wempa location within Murang’a South.

“In the unfortunate homicide reported by the chief – Mugwe location on July 11, 2024, the suspect turned against his wife of two years following a family dispute, inflicting fatal cuts on her head and legs,” said DCI.

Murder incident
According to the report, neighbors whose attention was drawn to the ruction arrived at the suspect’s house to find a profusely bleeding Millicent, and beside her, a Maasai rungu, a black whip and a panga all soaked in blood.
More blood on the wall and floor evidenced the young lady’s struggle to escape with her life. Police in Chuka were notified of the incident, but on arrival found the victim’s body lying cold and lifeless. The suspect was also long gone, triggering a manhunt.
Acting on forensic intelligence, a joint team of Homicide and Crime Research detectives conducted a crackdown in Murang’a South today, smoking out the suspect from his hideout at Wempa area,” added DCI.
He has been placed in custody pending arraignment tomorrow.
