Billy Chemirmir, a Kenyan man convicted of killing two people in the United States was on Tuesday, September 19, confirmed dead.
Chemirmir, 50, also known as Kipkorir was serving his life imprisonment sentence at a prison in Texas after his conviction in 2022.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Spokesperson of Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hannah Haney confirmed that Chemirmir was found dead inside his cell.
Whilst the department declined to disclose further details, reports have emerged that his cellmate, a man convicted for murder too, is the key suspect in Chemirmir’s killing.
Born in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, Chemirmir moved to the US in the 1990s and married a US citizen.
He worked as a healthcare worker in the US, an experience authorities note he used later to commit crimes.
However, his stay in the country was shrouded in controversy as he was often on the wrong side of the law.
From robberies to homicide and impersonation, the man was accused of regularly committing crime offenses.
In addition to the two women, he was convicted for killing, Chemirmir was also facing accusations of killing over 20 people in the state of Texas.

Further, the deceased convict was accused of posing as a healthcare worker to enter homes in Texas and thereafter killing elderly women at a retirement home.
At the time, the cause for his alleged victims’ deaths was thought to be natural.
In 2019, Chemirmir police officers tracking him on suspicion that he tried to kill a 90-year-old.
Chemirmir victims surprised
Speaking to the media after the news, families of Chemirmir’s victims expressed mixed reactions noting that they were not sure whether to feel happy or sad.

His family was yet to issue a statement on his murder by the time of this publication.
