Fresh Twist as Police Reveal Details of Missing Mlolongo Man Found Dead

The discovery of the two bodies has heightened concerns over the circumstances surrounding the trio’s disappearance and deaths.

The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a clarification on the discovery of the body of Justus Mutumwa, one of the reported missing three men from Mlolongo, on Thursday, January 31.

This is after the bodies of Mutumwa and Martin Mwau, also from Mlolongo, were found at the City Mortuary more than a month after they went missing.

The two had disappeared on December 16, 2024, alongside Karani Muema, leaving their families in distress and searching for answers for over a month.

Justus Mutumwa’s body was first discovered on Thursday at the City Mortuary before that of Mwau was found at the same morgue.

However, NPS in a statement said that the reports circulating and the facts surrounding the discovery of Mutumwa’s body are inaccurate.

The Police Service in turn linked the death to a case involving the discovery of a body found floating along the Nairobi River in Ruai by a lady which was reported on December 18, last year.

The statement further detailed that the bruises and general state of the discovered body prompted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Ruai to institute a murder investigation.

The bruises and general state of the body prompted DCI Ruai to institute a murder investigation.

The family of the late Mutumwa, oblivious to the Ruai incident, made a report of their missing kin at Athi River police station on the 21/12/2024 (OB reference No. 23) alleging he had been missing since the 17/12/2024.

Meanwhile, the body remained unknown until yesterday when forensic investigations led by the relevant department was able to point out it was indeed that of the missing Justus Mutumwa.

The National Police Service reassures the public of its commitment to a thorough investigation of all Missing Persons reports and the public are equally urged to share any information they may have using the toll-free lines: 999; 911; 112 and FichuakwaDCI on 0800 766 203 or report at the nearest police station.

On the other hand, it remains unclear where Martin Mwau’s family body was recovered before being taken to the City Mortuary.

The discovery of the two bodies has heightened concerns over the circumstances surrounding the trio’s disappearance and deaths.

The two, alongside Karani Muema, disappeared on December 16 and 17 in quick succession under unclear circumstances.

Mutumwa, Zyuko, and Muema were last seen by friends at a local joint on the evening of December 15, 2024, where they appeared to be in a jovial mood.

According to their families, the three had left their homes that morning to attend to their respective businesses and workplaces but never returned.

The discovery of his remains leaves only Muema unaccounted for.
