Police officers arrested a pastor identified as Lewis Simiyu with human parts in Webuye East, Bungoma County on Monday, July 8, 2024.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the human parts were found hidden in a carton in the pastor’s car.
“Police in Webuye East are holding for investigation a self-proclaimed clergyman whose car was found with human parts stashed in a carton after he took it to a carwash located at Amazing petrol station in Bungoma’s Masikhu market earlier today,” the DCI explained.
In the bizarre incident that stalled services at the carwash, the suspect, a pastor at a local ministry in Ndivisi Ward, took his Toyota Premio for a body wash at the said spot, a moment before the puzzling discovery was made.
However, when the service guy was making the final touches at the boot, he noticed a protruding human leg, partly burnt and resting atop other such parts.
The young man stopped washing the car until the petrol station manager took a gaze at the creepy box.
After the discovery, the manager immediately informed the police at Webuye station, who arrived in time before the car owner could drive off.
“The suspect is in custody assisting with the investigation, and the recovered body parts have been taken to Webuye County Hospital morgue for preservation and further analysis,” the DCI said.
This comes at a time when the DCI has been working to fight human, drug, and wildlife trafficking.

Police Arrest Suspects of Human Trafficking
On June 5, DCI’s Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) detectives arrested a driver and his turnboy.
The detectives rescued 17 persons believed to be victims of human trafficking: a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights.
Acting on intelligence, the sleuths laid a trap at Makupa bridge where they intercepted an Isuzu lorry Reg. No. KCL 849M that was being driven by one Richard Mbeke.
Upon opening the lorry’s carriage, 17 men of Ethiopian origin were rescued from therein and escorted to Makupa Police Station in the company of the lorry’s driver and his turnboy, Joseph Ndung’u.
The entire group was arraigned at a Mombasa court.

Suspected Wildlife Traffickers
This was followed by the arrest of six suspected wildlife traffickers on July 8.
The detectives seized two pieces of elephant tusks estimated at a street value of Ksh5 million and four live terrapins.
The six were arrested at Kaloleni Shopping Center after a tip-off from vigilant citizens that there were suspected wildlife traffickers in the said area.
The suspects were escorted to Mariakani Police Station and later transferred to Nairobi for further processing and arraignment.
