The National Police Service (NPS) has revealed how a woman was traced to her husband’s house after she was reported kidnapped by another lover.
In a statement on November 16, NPS narrated how Brian Andore duped investigative agencies into believing that his wife, Mercy Awuor had been kidnapped.
Brian made the report at Kitsuru Police Station on November 9, 2024.
He told the police that Mercy had been kidnapped by unknown people who had promised her a job opportunity but were instead demanding a ransom of Ksh.150,000.
Afterwards, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and Operations teams embarked on the assignment to rescue the victim.
On November 13, 2024, they arrested one suspect named Chiranzi Tsuma Mbaru in the Gitaru area.
It had been reported that Chiranzi’s mobile phone number was used to demand ransom.
However, these reports later turned out to be false.
Mercy Found as Husband’s Home
On November 16, 2024, the team proceeded to Oldonyo Orok, Narok South where the victim’s number was last located.
Here, the detectives found Awuor at her at her husband’s house, one George Odada, together with her two children.
“Preliminarily investigation has established that there was no kidnap but rather love affairs, a love triangle and family issues,” NPS said.
Consequently, both were escorted to Nairobi for further interrogation, statement-taking, and processing.
“The NPS takes the opportunity to emphasize that it is an offence under Section 129 of the Penal Code for anybody to give false information to a Public Officer, in this case, Police Officers,” added the statement.

Brian Narrates How Mercy Went Missing
The family said Mercy was lured by kidnappers who offered her a job opportunity.
ADVERT
The husband stated that his wife left the house on November 4 to meet her prospective employer.
Later, he received a call from her, informing him that she had been abducted, and the kidnappers were demanding a ransom.
“I received a missed call from a lady’s number around 3 p.m. I called back, and she told me the ’employers’ had lied to her. She said she was forcibly put into a Probox and that they were near Masai Mara,” he said.
He added that his wife called again before the kidnappers took the phone from her and used another number to contact him.
“One of them told me to prepare Ksh150,000 or they would dump her body,” he said.

How Police Took Him in Rounds
Brian filed a report at Kitusuru Police Station but was referred to Kabete Police Station for further action.
However, he claimed the officers at Kabete were unhelpful and demanded a bribe.
“The officers at Kabete could have helped if I had money. They asked for Ksh500 to track the number, but I only had Ksh300,” he said.
He added that he was sent back and forth between Kabete and Gigiri Police Stations, but investigators failed to assist him.
