Popular Kenyan entertainer Fredrick Karumba better known as DJ Krowbar has appealed for financial aid to cater for his wife’s kidney transplant.
In a video shared which he shared on Wednesday, August 30 on Instagram, DJ Krowbar called upon Kenyans to stand with him, to enable his wife to undergo a kidney surgery that requires Ksh6 million.
“Hey guys Kwrobar here, this is my wife Wanjiru, she was diagnosed with kidney failure 2 years ago. It has been a crazy journey.
This kidney transplant has three faces to hit, pre-surgery, surgery, and post-surgery, and we need financial help. This is why we are asking you to stand with us,” DJ Krowbar said.
Furthermore, the DJ noted that they had found a kidney donor – the sister to the wife.
“Now there is light at the end of tunnel. Heroes don’t come dressed in caps, heroes are like Mercy,” Krowbar stated.
DJ Krowbar wife’s sickness
In 2022, while the DJ was celebrating his wife’s birthday, he disclosed that she was diagnosed with acute kidney injury, a condition that has drained the family as she had to undergo dialysis.
Through his social media handle, Krowbar shared a photo of his wife in hospital, saying she was diagnosed in April.
“This means her kidneys are functioning below 15 per cent, and we began a journey that took many weeks for us to accept the sad reality: dialysis,” he wrote.

Moreover, the DJ revealed the details saying that his wife had sought medication at the right time before the situation got out of hand.
Krowbar, further asked his fans to pray for his wife with the hope that their resilience would be a testimony for many others.

Kidney Transplant
A kidney transplant is a surgery to place a healthy kidney from a living or deceased donor into a person whose kidneys no longer function properly.
When kidneys lose this filtering ability, waste accumulates in the body, which can raise blood pressure and result in kidney failure (end-stage renal disease).
End-stage renal disease occurs when the kidneys have lost about 90% of their ability to function normally. People with end-stage renal disease need to have waste removed from their bloodstream via a machine (dialysis) or a kidney transplant to stay alive.
