Senior School learners under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) will follow clearly defined learning hours for both day and boarding schools.
It will operate within regulated contact hours, with institutions required to ensure that all learners meet the prescribed instructional time while allowing room for pathway-based learning.
Teaching and learning activities will be scheduled within standard school hours, complemented by supervised co-curricular, mentorship, and self-directed learning sessions aligned to individual learner pathways.
According to Ministry of Education guidelines, the Senior School learners in day schools will attend classes from Monday to Friday, with institutions barred from requiring learners to report before 7.15 a.m.
Lessons will officially run from 8.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., after which learners will participate in co-curricular activities from 3.30 p.m. to 4.45 p.m. before leaving school.
In boarding schools, learning institutions will operate 24 hours a day, with classroom instruction scheduled between 8.00 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
Co-curricular activities will follow immediately from 3.30 p.m. to 4.45 p.m.
Learners will then engage in self-directed activities from 5.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
Evening prep will run from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m., after which learners will observe bedtime from 9.30 p.m. to 6.00 a.m.
Morning routines in boarding schools will be conducted under supervision from 6.00 a.m. to 8.00 a.m.
Institutions have also been directed not to release an unaccompanied learner later than 9.00 a.m., while the latest reporting time for boarders has been set at 5.00 p.m.

Plotting of Lessons
When plotting lessons on the timetable, schools will be required to ensure that subjects with similar skills, knowledge areas or concepts do not follow each other.
In regions that experience extreme temperatures, institutions will be allowed to adjust the timetable start and end times.

Arts and Sports Science, STEM-related practicals and Physical Education lessons will be scheduled before a break to give learners adequate time to rest and prepare for subsequent lessons.
Pastoral and Religious Programmes of Instruction will be conducted by responsible members of recognized and legally registered religious bodies.
Schools will also be expected to strengthen parental empowerment and engagement by creating structured opportunities for information sharing and involving parents and guardians in the implementation of the curriculum.
This approach aims to enhance collaboration between learning institutions and parents in supporting learner development.

My problem is the money that these boarding schools request from parents.. outside the normal fee… they want it in cash and no receipt is issued..a case in particular is Chianda boys high school..this is very bad and we need the government to help parents.
