After completing all the steps in the University and College application process, you will be required to pay Ksh1,500 which is the fee set by Kenya Universities and Colleges Placement Service (KUCCPS).
The current application process for placement under the KUCCPS requires applicants to pay via the eCitizen platform.
This is in line with the government’s policy to adopt a unified system for all government services under the paybill number 222222.
There are several possible ways of making the transaction while applying for KUCCPS placement including through a link provided on the portal to send your money via M-Pesa or any other mobile money platform available.
On clicking the ‘Submit’ button in the online application form, a pop-up will be displayed with a “Proceed to Pay” link.
How to make KUCCPS transaction via M-Pesa
Click on the Proceed to Pay link that will take you to the payment platform.
Choose your preferred payment method from the provided options (M-PESA, Kenya Commercial Bank, RTGS, Airtel Money) and proceed to pay as provided for each method.
For M-PESA, click on the respective button and the payment details will be displayed that include Business Number (222222), a random Account Number and the expected amount. Enter your M-PESA PIN and Send. (The payment platform also provides for STK push.)
Use the provided Account Number to submit the application. DO NOT use the MPESA transaction code. (The same Account Number will be required for any subsequent changes to your application; hence, you are advised to retain it.)

After you have successfully paid and submitted, the system will display a message indicating that the application was successful.
On the Dashboard, you will see your successful application.
Using STK toolkit
Alternatively, you can use the longer STK toolkit process. Click on your M-PESA menu on your phone and select the paybill option.
Then enter the paybill number 222222 followed by the account number generated by the KUCCPS.
Enter the amount (1500) and your PIN to complete the transaction.
Upon successful transaction, you will receive an M-Pesa confirmation message on your phone.
Then go back to the application window and enter the account number in the slot written “Payment REF” then click SUBMIT. Retain the message.
Be careful not to use the M-Pesa transaction code but the provided Account Number.

Then give the system a few seconds to display a notification that the application is successful.
If you make a mistake, repeat the process but do not pay again. Instead, re-enter the account number from the previous payment and submit.
In a statement on Sunday, February 25, KUCCPS extended the deadline for application indefinitely, noting that it would only close application window after ensuring all targeted candidates have applied.
The application process has been rocked with challenges including slow response on the website with students complaining that the website has not been accessible especially during the daytime.
On Sunday, the placement service assured that processing of the applications made so far would only start after all students targeted in the window have submitted their choices.
Thereafter, KUCCPS will have another window to allow students revise their application in case they fail to secure the degrees of choice.
