The Technical University of Kenya (TUK) has announced an opportunity for diploma holders to upgrade their qualifications by enrolling in its Bachelor of Technology programmes.
In a statement, the university invited TUK diploma graduates and other holders of equivalent diplomas from recognized institutions to apply for direct entry into Year 2, Semester 2.
“February 2026 Bachelor of Technology Intake (for those with Diploma Qualifications) Bachelor of Technology Programmes starting February 2026: (Notably, TU-K 2025 graduates are welcome to apply using their transcripts and completion letters. Reporting Date: 2026-02-23,”
Additionally, the university noted that applicants who have not yet received their diploma certificates can still apply using their academic transcripts and a letter of completion from their institutions.
The intake is scheduled to begin on February 23, 2026, and applications will be submitted online through the university’s admissions portal.
How to Upgrade a Diploma at TUK
To apply for thediploma upgrade, an applicant must follow the following procedure:
- Create an account or log in at the TUK Admissions Portal.
- Enter personal details to obtain a reference number (APP/xxxxx/2024).
- Upload scanned copies of academic certificates or result slips (results older than two years are not accepted).
- Pay the application fee via eCitizen:

- Diploma/Undergraduate: KES 2,000
- Postgraduate: KES 3,000
- Foreign students: KES 3,600
- Return to the portal, log in, choose your preferred programme, and submit your application.
- Check your account regularly for updates on the application status.
Key Entry Requirements of Upgrading a Diploma at Universities
When applying for a university program as a diploma graduate, applicants must have a valid email address and mobile phone number.
They must also have a scanned or digital copy of your recent passport-sized photograph, saved as a.JPG or .JPEG file, and less than 2MB in size.
An applicant must have a scanned copy of both sides of their identification document, National ID Card, Birth Certificate, or Passport, saved as a PDF and under 2 MB.
They must also have a K.C.P.E. or equivalent, and a K.C.S.E. or equivalent Index Number.

However, if a candidate didn’t undertake these examinations, they should enter a dot (.) as their Index Number where required.
They should also have copies of Certificates, Result slips, or Testimonials in original color.
Each original diploma, bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD certificate, along with its corresponding transcripts, should be scanned and saved as a separate PDF.
Each file should be saved as a.PDF and be less than 5 MB. If the document is larger than the recommended size, use online PDF shrinking tools, such as PDF2GO, to compress it.
