Tanzania Intensifies Security Ahead of Wedding
Tanzanian police have increased security across Mwanza ahead of the ceremony.
Mwanza Regional Police Commander DCP Wilbrod Mutafungwa said in an interview on November 5 that comprehensive security measures were in place, including increased patrols across the city, hotels hosting guests, and areas surrounding Lake Victoria.
Mutafungwa added that officers had increased their presence across different locations to ensure the celebrations proceeded peacefully.
“Our officers have intensified patrols in all areas, including land, hotels, as well as the shores of Lake Victoria. Our goal is to ensure the ceremony happens in an environment of peace and tranquillity, with adequate security,” Mutafungwa said.
The police commander also identified roads expected to experience increased traffic as guests traveled to the wedding venue and other locations hosting visitors.
Mutafungwa identified Makongoro Road, the route connecting Mwanza International Airport to the city center, Kwatunza–Malaika Beach Resort Road and Nyerere Road towards Kisesa as routes likely to experience increased traffic during the wedding celebrations.
