The Government of the Republic of Iran has announced plans to sponsor a group of 12 students from Kenyan tertiary institutions to participate in an International Friendly Skills Competition scheduled to take place in May 2024 in Iran.
According to the Ministry of Education, by participating in this scholarship program, Kenyan students can broaden their perspectives, enhance their academic skills and contribute to building stronger ties between Kenya and Iran.
This initiative was revealed by His Excellency, Ambassador Ali Gholampour, representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kenya.
He had paid a courtesy to the office of Education Cabinet Secretary (CS), Machogu at Jogoo House.
Friendly Skills Competition
According to the Islamic representative, the competition will cover a range of contemporary and in-demand skill areas.
These skills include Mobile Application Development, Web Technologies, IT Network System Administration, IT Software and Solutions for Business.
Others are, mechanical Engineering CAD, and Graphic Design Technology.

Expressing gratitude for the growing rapport between the governments of Iran and Kenya, Machogu highlighted the fruitful collaborations benefiting both nations across various economic sectors.

The CS further commended the forthcoming support from the Iranian government for the International Friendly Skills Competition, aligning it with Kenya’s focus on advancing Technical, Vocational Education, and Training (TVET) within the country.
” The exhibition was in line with the emphasis the Kenyan government had placed on the promotion of technical, Vocational education and training in the country,” stated CS Machogu.
Iran to Sponsor Kenyan Students
Furthermore, Ambassador Gholampour announced that Iran would extend full sponsorship to between 20 and 50 Kenyan students for studies at Iranian universities.
” It will also give partial scholarships to students who pass entry level examinations, while talented students will be given full scholarships to study various courses in high education and training institutions in Iran,” commented the Islamic representative.

Exceptionally talented students will have the opportunity to secure full scholarships to pursue various courses at higher education and training institutions across Iran.
This will be the First Iran International Friendly Skills Competition.
Earlier on, the Iranian government signed an education deal with three Kenyan Universities based in Nairobi.
The aim was to launch a Master of Science degree course on nanotechnology in University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology and the African Union-based Panafrican University.
