The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced a new training program for college tutors interested in becoming examiners for Teacher Education assessments.
The training, set to take place in April 2025, aims to equip tutors with the necessary skills to assess various teacher education programs.

Further, KNEC has invited applications from qualified teachers to train as assessors for Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE).
Also, the teachers will be trained for the Diploma in Teacher Education (DTE), and the Proficiency Paper and Pedagogy (PP&P) assessments.

Details of Training and Eligibility
The training, which will combine both online and residential sessions, requires a fee of Ksh10,500, payable only by shortlisted applicants.

Moreover, selected candidates will receive further details regarding access to training materials and the schedule for in-person sessions.
To be eligible, applicants must be practicing tutors or lecturers in teacher training colleges, universities, or TVET institutions.
Also, they must be registered or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and hold a Degree in Education or higher.
The council has also detailed that applicants must have at least three years of teaching experience, not be under any disciplinary action from TSC and be below 50 years of age.
Additionally, they must be recommended for the job by their respective institutions.
However, tutors who have already been trained as assessors for DSTE, DPTE, or DECTE and are in the KNEC examiners’ database do not need to apply.

KNEC on How to Apply
Interested candidates are required to apply through the KNEC examiners’ portal at https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.
Applicants with existing Cp2 accounts can log in, while new users must create an account to proceed with their applications.
The application process requires completing a personal profile and selecting the desired training program.
However, KNEC has stated that the training slots are limited, and only those who meet all the requirements and submit the necessary documents will be considered.
The training will cover a wide range of subjects under DPTE, DECTE, and DSTE assessments, including English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Studies, Physical Education, Art and Craft, Music.
Other subjects include Indigenous Languages, Agriculture, and various technical subjects such as Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, and Media Technology.
Upon successful completion of the training, tutors may be engaged as examiners based on KNEC’s personnel needs for different assessment papers.
