“The CBA portal is now open for registration of learners in Grade 3. The portal is also open for registration of learners in Grade 6 who have no assessment numbers. Schools are, therefore, advised to log into the portal and register their learners,” read the statement in part.
In the update issued on Wednesday, KNEC stressed that learners must be registered in the Grade 6 portal first and obtain an assessment number to be eligible for Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) registration.

All learners who are in Grade 6 will be registered afresh for the assessment, through the KPSEA Registration portal which shall be accessible before the February 28, 2025, closure.
At the same time, KNEC noted that candidates presented for the assessment must be the eligible learners in the respective institutions presenting them.
Registration of ghost candidates constitutes an assessment malpractice, which attracts sanctions, including de-registration of the school as a KNEC assessment centre.
During the registration process for the CBA portal, schools are required to ensure that candidates’ biodata is accurate and updated where necessary.

Key Points to Take During Registration
KNEC has emphasized the importance of verifying the following details to avoid discrepancies:
- Correct spelling and order of learners’ names as documented in their Birth Certificates.
- Gender of the learner.
- Year of birth.
- Citizenship status.
- Religious Education option the learner is registered for.
- Category of special needs and disabilities (if applicable), which should be indicated as follows:
- Visual Impairment (VI) for blind candidates who require Braille.
- Low Vision (LP) for candidates who require large print papers.
- Hearing Impairment (HI).
- Physical Impairment (PI).
Additionally, transfer of candidates must be concluded before closure of the registration portal on 28th February 2025.
“No transfers will be allowed thereafter. Further, the transfer process must be done online, to avoid duplication of candidates,” KNEC said.
