The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is expected to unveil the 2026 placement results on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Ogamba will announce the placement results for students who applied for admission to join universities, colleges and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
KUCCPS said placement was conducted in accordance with the Universities Act, 2012, with students assigned based on merit, their preferred course choices, Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) performance and the available capacity in institutions.
“As required by the Universities Act, 2012, placement of students into the institutions will be on merit, considering applicants’ listed priorities, KCSE performance and available capacities,” KUCCPS said.
The placement exercise follows the 2025 KCSE examination, in which about 270,000 candidates attained the minimum university entry grade of C+, qualifying for direct admission to degree programmes.

Course Selection
On May 16, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Mercy Wahome said programmes such as Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Engineering had already been filled during the initial application phase due to high demand and limited available slots.
She noted that the courses were subsequently removed from the portal as no spaces remained for revision applications.
In its update, Wahome stated that 212,510 candidates who scored a C+ and above in the 2025 KCSE examination applied for various programmes since the opening of applications.
This accounted for 79.1 percent of the 268,714 students who attained a mean grade of C+ or above in the national examination.
