Lari Boys High School has been closed indefinitely following a Saturday, July 14, night fire that destroyed the major establishments of the school, including the administration block, classrooms, and the school library.
The fire broke out around 9:00 PM and is suspected to have been started by students in protest.
According to the administration, the boys held protests after they were allegedly denied access to musical instruments.
Consequently, all the students were sent home as the school remained closed for investigations into the incident.
A social media post by a concerned parent, Grace Shiru, read, “Lari Boys is on fire. Please, God, protect my son and others.”
Another post by Wilson Njogu said, “Lari Boys on fire, should we run and help put it out? MCA Nyutu has sent five fire trucks, and some students have fled into the forest! They were singing WANTAM.
“They burned the laboratory where money and documents are kept, so now we’re wondering how the school’s balance will be accounted for.”
