Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is designed to equip learners with practical skills, technical knowledge, and industry-ready competencies to meet the demands of the labour market, with KUCCPS coordinating student placement into accredited public university TVET programmes.
TVET is delivered through colleges, universities, and university-based institutes, combining classroom instruction with hands-on training in workshops, laboratories, and industrial attachments.
Examples of TVET Programmes Offered in Kenyan Public Universities as per KUCCPS:
- Engineering and Applied Technology – Practical training in mechanical, electrical, civil, and automotive engineering.
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) – Courses in software development, networking, and computer applications.
- Agriculture and Agribusiness – Skills in crop production, animal husbandry, and agribusiness management.
- Hospitality and Tourism – Training in hotel management, culinary arts, and tourism operations.

The goal is to produce graduates who are immediately employable, entrepreneurial, or capable of upgrading their skills for further education.
Public universities have increasingly incorporated TVET centres recognised by KUCCPS to expand access to skills-based education across counties.
These university-based TVET institutes ensure quality training, accreditation, and alignment with national standards set by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
