Makueni Boys High School is a national public boys’ secondary school located in Makueni County. The school traces its roots back to March 1966 when it opened its doors to its first students.
The main mission of the school at the time was to educate the children from families who had settled in the region from other parts of Ukambani, notably the larger Machakos District by then.
The foundation stone for the first building in the school was laid down on September 20, 1965, by the then Vice President, the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
From a single stream, Makueni Boys moved to two streams in the early 1970s. By the late 1970s, a third stream was established, and a single “A” level class started offering science subjects only.
When the “A” level class was phased out in 1989, a fourth stream was introduced. In 2011, the school was upgraded to a national school, and the first batch after the upgrade was admitted in January 2012. Makueni Boys is sponsored by the African Inland Church (AIC).

The last KCPE was administered in 2023 after it was replaced by the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) under the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Currently, Makueni Boys has 10 streams with a total enrolment of over 2,000 students.
