Days after lecturers at the embattled Moi University called off the strike, the institution on Wednesday, November 4 released a revised academic calendar.Â
In a statement, the university administration announced that students will break for the December holidays on December 23 and resume classes on January 6, 2025.
The university further stated that end-of-semester exams are scheduled to take place from March 16 to April 4, 2025.
According to the University administration upon resumption, students will begin with their CAT 1 examinations, scheduled to take place from January 6 to January 24.

The university also noted that the final timetable for end-of-semester exams will be released between January 20 and January 24.
CAT II examinations are set to be administered from February 3 to February 21. Subsequently, end-of-semester exams for all students across all campuses will commence on March 16 and conclude on April 4, 2025.
Elsewhere, the University Vice-Chancellor (VC), Isaac Kosgey will be addressing the 2024/2025Academic Year First Years on Monday December 9 2024 at the Student Centre, Main Campus starting at 2.00 p.m.
During the procession, The VC will be accompanied by Members of the University Management Board, Deans and Directors facilitated by the University band.

Students are required to attend the orientation physically, as they arrange to come with their academic regalia.
Other Campuses (College of Health Sciences, Annex Campus, Nairobi and Mombasa Campuses are requested to organize common venues to enable their students to follow the proceedings virtually.Â

Students are requested to assemble at the student Centre and to be seated by 2.00 p.m
The release of the academic calendar comes days after the university administration resolved the stalemate with the staff, which was mediated by the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) officials and Ministry of Education officials, including Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, after the staff had been on strike for nearly two months.

The Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) called off the Moi University strike on Saturday, November 30, which had paralyzed operations at the institution.

This had followed the signing of the return-to-work formula by the university’s staff on the same day the strike was called off.
UASU Secretary General Constantine Wasonga directed the lecturers to resume work on Monday, December 2.
