Oshwal Academy Nairobi stands as a prominent private, co-educational institution in Nairobi, Kenya, with a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1950.

The school is part of a network managed by the Oshwal Education and Relief Board, which is rooted in a community of Kenyan Indians practising Jainism.

Educational Structure and Curriculum

The institution is designed to cater to a diverse student body, offering education from nursery through to senior high school, covering ages 1.5 to 18 years.

Its curriculum is aligned with the British National Curriculum, examined by Cambridge and Pearson, ensuring a globally recognised educational standard that prepares students for higher education both locally and internationally, including destinations like the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, East Africa, India, and South Africa.

The academy is structured into 3 sections to accommodate different age groups and educational stages.

Oshwal Kindergarten

 The kindergarten caters to children aged 1.5 to 5 years, offering early childhood education within the framework of the British National Curriculum, specifically tailored to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

The lessons focus on seven areas of learning—communication and language, physical development, personal, social, and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world, and expressive arts and design.

The institution has safe, secure, and stimulating classrooms equipped with educational resources to support early learning.

The young ones have access to shared facilities like a toddlers’ swimming pool and gardens for recreational activities.

While the focus for kindergarten is on play and foundational learning, children are introduced to basic extracurricular activities, such as Music and movement sessions, Art and craft activities, simple sports and physical activities to develop motor skills.

Oshwal Junior School

The junior school caters to students aged 6-11 years and follows a British Curriculum that prepares students for IGCSE and A-level stages in senior school.

The curriculum emphasises core subjects like English, Mathematics, and Science, alongside humanities, arts, and physical education, according to Cambridge and Pearson examination standards.

The junior school focuses on developing critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration through interactive and student-centred teaching methods.

The Junior School encourages participation in a variety of clubs and activities to support holistic development.

Extracurricular activities include Art and craft, music, drama, football, swimming, athletics, Junior versions of Model United Nations, book clubs, and environmental clubs like young farmers, scouting and first aid programs tailored to younger students.

Oshwal Senior School

The Senior School caters to students in Years 7 to 13 (ages approximately 11 to 18), offering the British National Curriculum, specifically the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) for Years 7-11 and Advanced Level (A Level) for Years 12-13, examined by Cambridge and Pearson.

The Senior School is known for its rigorous academic standards, with a track record of strong examination results and university placements globally.

Extra-curricular activities for the senior school include First Aid, Girl Guides, Interact, Smart Cookies, expedition, President’s Award Scheme, wildlife, young farmers, and book and media club.

Participation in the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, chess, taekwondo, scouting, journalism, public speaking, and drama is also available.

Facilities

The campus spans 14 acres, providing ample space for all facilities.

The facilities in Oshwal Academy Nairobi include:

Six state-of-the-art labs for biology, chemistry, and physics, supporting practical learning for IGCSE and A Level students.

Three computer labs are equipped with modern technology for ICT education and research.

A well-stocked library providing resources for academic study and research across all levels.

Modern, well-equipped classrooms are designed for interactive and effective learning.

On-campus store providing textbooks, stationery, and educational materials.

Two dedicated rooms for visual arts, supporting activities like painting, drawing, and crafts.

A specialised space for music education, including vocal and instrumental training.

A band room equipped for band rehearsals and music-related extracurricular activities, supporting programs like the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

A full-sized field used for football, hockey, and rugby, supporting competitive and recreational sports.

A 400-metre track for athletics and running events.

A 25-metre swimming pool for competitive and recreational swimming and a toddlers’ pool for younger students.

An outdoor court for basketball games and practice, and dedicated courts for tennis training and matches.

A large indoor facility hosting indoor sports like badminton, basketball, handball, table tennis, and volleyball.

A cafeteria in the school premises provides vegetarian meals in line with the school’s Jain way of life.

Oshwal Academy Nairobi does not disclose its tuition and fees for the 2025/2026 academic year on its website.

There are no extra charges for most co-curricular activities, except for tournament fees charged by hosting schools. Optional activities like skating, chess, and dance may incur additional costs if chosen by the student.
