Rev. Muhoro Secondary School for the Deaf is a mixed, national-level, integrated boarding secondary school located in Mukurweini Sub-County, Nyeri County, Kenya.
The school offers secondary education under the 8-4-4 curriculum and currently has about 380 students enrolled.
Established in 1993, the school began with only six deaf boys and has since grown into a leading national Special Needs Education (SNE) institution.
It serves both deaf and hearing students aged 14 to 22, promoting inclusive learning by integrating deaf education with hearing learners to enhance communication and Kenyan Sign Language skills.
How the Rev. Muhoro School for the Deaf Program Runs
The main school programme runs from Monday to Friday and begins at 5.00 a.m. with waking up and personal preparation.
This is followed by morning preps from 5.30 a.m. to 6.30 a.m., breakfast, and assigned duties before lessons begin.
Students attend morning lessons from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m., except on Mondays and Fridays, when assembly runs from 8.00 a.m. to 8.40 a.m. After a tea break, learning continues with mid-morning and late-morning lessons up to 1.10 p.m.

After lunch, afternoon lessons resume from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m., followed by a tea break. Co-curricular activities take place from 4.15 p.m. to 5.15 p.m., including clubs, games, guidance and counselling, debate, and societies on different days.
In the evening, students have time for group discussions before evening preps, which run from 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Optional preps follow, and the day ends with lights off at 10.15 p.m.

KCSE Performance
In 2024, the grade distribution showed varied performance among students. One student attained a grade B, while another scored a B-.
Three students earned a C+, and 12 earned a C. Seven earned a C-, and eight earned a D+. Ten students earned a D, and 23 received a D-.
At the lower end, eight students attained an E grade.
