Sironga Girls High School is a national girls’ boarding secondary school located in Nyamira County.
The school, founded on a strong religious background rooted in the faith of the Adventists, was established in July 1968 by the then Vice President, the late Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, as a Harambee Mixed Secondary School.
The school became a girls-only secondary school in 1990. Sironga Girls School was promoted to the national level in 2014. The school has been nicknamed ‘Maroon Palace’ due to the maroon color of its uniform.
Each year, the school admits over 50o students based on academic merit and school preference, in accordance with Kenya’s national education placement policy. Previously, admissions were based on the results of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.
However, from 2023 onwards, selection has transitioned to the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) under the new Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework. Sironga Girls has a current enrolment of over 2800 students.

KCSE performance
In the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination, Sironga Girls High School registered a total of 859 candidates. Out of these, 824 students achieved the minimum university entry grade of C+ or above, resulting in an impressive university qualification rate of 95.93%.
The school recorded a mean score of 8.389, reflecting a strong academic performance. In terms of grade distribution, 17 students scored an A-, 106 students attained a B+, 285 students scored a B, and 279 students earned a B-. Additionally, 137 students received a C+, while 29 attained a C grade, and 6 students scored a C-. No candidate achieved a straight A.

According to the Ministry of Education’s 2020 guidelines, national schools in Kenya were categorized into four clusters to help standardize annual school fees across the country.
Sironga Girls High School falls under Cluster Two (II), where the official annual fee is capped at approximately Ksh75,798 per student. However, the actual amount payable may vary depending on the school. This variation arises from additional or reduced charges determined at the institutional level, such as those for school uniforms, motivation programs, and co-curricular activities.
