Following the separation of Philip Karanja, otherwise known as Director Phil and his wife, Kate Actress, Abel Mutua penned a satirical joint statement declaring separation due to what he described as vehicular differences.
Abel Mutua’s remarks came after controversial media personality Andrew Kibe claimed that he had foreseen it.
In the sarcastic joint statement, Abel Mutua stated that he would separate from his long-term friend and CEO of Phil-it TV due to vehicular differences.

“This is due to our vehicular differences. Associating with a BMW owner has taken a toll on me, and we wish that you please respect our decision.”
The actor, comedian and director announced in the spin off from the grim joint statement issued by Philip Karanja and Catherine announcing their separation.
Kenyan celebrities reacted to the Instagram post with actor and media personality, Nick Ndenda saying” Everybody needs a friend like you.”
This was in reference to the light way in which Abel Mutua took to the situation despite the depressing atmosphere it had caused.
End of the road for Kate Actress and Director Phil
Kate Actress and Director Phil announced their separation on September 19 in a joint statement. The couple said that the matter was not a secret, but it had been kept private.
Additionally, Kate Actress stated that the marriage had ended a long time ago before the couple announced the separation.
Director Phil remained mute on the issue on his social media platforms.
However, in the joint statement, the couple asked their fans and members of the public to respect their wishes and allow them to go through the process. Kenyans received the announcement with a mixed bag of emotions.
Fans react differently to the news
Fans of the couple wished them all the success in their new journey post-separation.
Social media user Loyce Njoka commented under director Phil’s posts saying, “You and Kate Actress should get us a therapist some of us believed in love because of you guys, sending love and light to the both of you.”
After the satirical post by Abel Mutua, some fans took to social media platforms claiming that the separation could be a prank on Kenyans.

“Oooh no … l hope the God who brought you together make things work …. God hates divorce… let’s all keep them in prayers” social media user Njeri Sherry1 commented.
Celebrity divorce
Celebrity separations and divorce are not new in Kenya and around the world. For instance, Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert recently went separate ways after seven years of marriage.
Other celebrities that have divorced in the year 2023 include Ariana Grande, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas.
There have been reports that the union between Steve Harvey and his wife Marjorie is on the rocks. However, the duo dismissed the talk, maintaining that they were still an item.
