Coptic Hospital is a Level 6 mission hospital under the Coptic Orthodox Church. Bishop Paul is the founder of the Coptic Hospital and head of mission affairs for the Coptic Orthodox Church.
The Coptic Orthodox is one of the oldest churches in the world. It was founded by St. Mark the Evangelist, author of the second gospel, in Alexandria, Egypt, in the year 61 A.D.

The word “Copt” means Egyptian. Copts are the native Christians of Egypt and the direct descendants of the ancient Egyptians who were converted to Christianity by St. Mark.
Coptic Hospital is located along Ngong Road next to China Centre Place, Nairobi.

Profile of Bishop Paul
He started his career as a medical doctor in the Egyptian army in 1974.
In 1978, he became a full-time medical doctor and catered for the medical and spiritual needs of the underprivileged in the Southern region of Egypt.
Bishop served as a medical missionary in Churches in Africa between 1992 and 1994.
He served in different countries including South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Afterwards, he served as a priest in Canada before he was moved to Zimbabwe in 1995, where he worked for less than a year.
He has been the Bishop and Head of Mission for the Coptic Orthodox Church since 1995.
Besides, he is the head of the board of directors of the Coptic Hospital in all four countries.
He is also the Administrative Official, Director of Treatment and Literacy Program, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Principal Investigator.

Education
He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Assiut University and attended the General Surgery Residency Program Training at Mayday Hospital, UK.
In 1978, Bishop Paul pursued Theological Studies from Cairo Theological Coptic Seminary.
He also graduated with a master’s degree in Missionology from the University of South Africa.
