Daystar University is a Christ-centered, non-denominational institution of higher learning that exists to equip Christian servant leaders for the transformation of the church and society.
It was founded in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, as Daystar Publications in 1964 but relocated to Kenya in 1971 and was registered as Daystar Communications, a non-profit organization, in 1973. The organization then offered a five-week International Institute for Christian Communication (IICC) course.

In 1976, Daystar Communications started a two-year post-high school diploma program in Christian Communications,
This was followed by a two-year M.A. programme in Christian Communication and Christian Ministries in 1978, in collaboration with Wheaton College in Illinois, USA.

In April 1984, Daystar launched a four-year B.A. degree program in collaboration with Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania, USA, and changed its name to Daystar University College.
The Government of Kenya granted the Institution a Charter on September 29, 1994, and it became Daystar University.

Prof. Laban Ayiro became Daystar’s 4th President (Vice-Chancellor) in 2019.
The Main Campus is in Athi River, and it has the Nairobi Campus.
The University offers the following bachelor’s degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Science, Environmental Health, Actuarial Science, Biomedical Science, BSc Nursing, Bachelor of Laws (LL. B), Bachelor of Arts, Accounting, and Marketing.
Others are Bachelor of Arts in Purchasing and Business Logistics, Bachelor of Arts in Management Information Systems, Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management, Economics, Theology, Bachelor of Education in Sciences, and Bachelor of Education in Arts.
Additional programs include the Bachelor of Arts in Peace and Conflict Transformation, Psychology and Counselling, BA in Social Work, and the Bachelor of Arts in Monitoring and Evaluation.
Daystar University Fee Structure
For Nursing, the fee per semester is Ksh128,300 at the main campus in Athi River and Ksh155,800 at the Nairobi Campus.
However, there are one-time expenses payable in the first semester only totaling Ksh15,000, pushing the fee or Ksh143,300 and Ksh170,800, respectively.
The fee per semester for Law is Ksh152,300 at the Main Campus.
However, students pay Ksh167,300 during the first semester.
Other degree programs cost Ksh112,900 at the Main Campus and Ksh124,00 at the Nairobi Campus.
However, students pay an extra Ksh15,000 during the first semester.
There is an orientation fee for boarders of Ksh7,500.

Accommodation Plan
The University has boarding facilities at the Main Campus Athi River.
Hostel fees per Semester are as follows:
a) Imani Hostel (men) -Ksh22,730.
b) Patience (ladies) & Bethel (men) – Ksh18,940.
c) Grace Hostel (ladies) -Ksh24,730.
d) DUPA Self-Catering Hostels (ladies) -Ksh25,620.
e) Self-Catering Hostels (men and ladies, separately) -Ksh19,185.

Transport Charges for Day Scholar Students
a) From Nairobi to Main Campus and back is Ksh24,000. per semester.
b) From Athi River town to Main Campus and back is Ksh15,000 per semester
Catering, hostel and transport costs are optional. Medical fees and cafeteria charges may vary depending on the agreement with the respective service providers. Cafeteria services are available on campus on a Pay-as-you-eat basis.
Other One-Time Charges
a) A Graduation Fee of Ksh9,500 is charged when a student is due to graduate.
b) Additional Orientation Fee of Ksh2,000 will be charged to foreign students for the City Tour.
