Different Ways to Get to the State House, Nairobi
1. From the CBD via State House Road
One of the most direct routes from Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) is via State House Road, which branches off from Kenyatta Avenue near Uhuru Park.
This road leads directly toward Jakaya Kikwete Road, from where one can take the inner loop roads that connect to the main State House entrance.
Also, this route is ideal for those coming from Moi Avenue, Haile Selassie Avenue, or Kenyatta Avenue.
2. Via Dennis Pritt Road and Jakaya Kikwete Road
From the Ngong Road side, motorists can use Dennis Pritt Road, which links directly to Jakaya Kikwete Road.
This approach passes by St. George’s Primary, the Department of Defence (DOD), and allows access to the areas surrounding the Nairobi Arboretum Park and Kileleshwa.
It is a common access route for those coming from Kilimani or Yaya Centre areas.
3. From Riverside or Kileleshwa via Laikipia Road
Another way to approach the State House is from the Riverside Drive–Kileleshwa side, using Laikipia Road, which connects through Mandera Road or Kandara Road, merging into Ojijo Road and later joining State House Avenue.
This route runs along the upper side of the University of Nairobi, Chiromo Campus, and skirts the Nairobi Arboretum, making it a scenic and relatively less congested option.

4. From Westlands or Waiyaki Way via Ojijo Road and State House Avenue
If coming from Westlands or Parklands, one can use Ojijo Road, which intersects with State House Avenue near the Museum Hill interchange.
This route towards State House Road passes near University Way and Nairobi CBD’s western edge.
This route is especially useful for travelers avoiding inner-city congestion.
5. Through Ngong Road and Argwings Kodhek
Those arriving from Kilimani, Adams Arcade, or Hurlingham can follow Ngong Road, then connect via Argwings Kodhek Road to Lenana Road, which eventually links to Jakaya Kikwete Road or Dennis Pritt Road, giving access to State House’s southern perimeter.
