As WhatsApp continuously updates its platform with new features to enhance the user experience, many users often miss out on exploring them due to busy schedules or simply overlooking the updates.

This article explores some lesser-known WhatsApp tricks that most users may not be aware of:

  1. Restoring Deleted Messages

WhatsApp now allows users to restore messages that have been deleted by mistake.

When you delete a message using the “Delete for Me” option, a notification will pop up with an “Undo” button, enabling you to recover your message instantly.

  1. Using Dual WhatsApp Accounts

You can have two WhatsApp accounts on the same device, which is especially useful for those who want to keep work and personal communications separate. This dual feature allows users to switch between accounts seamlessly.

  1. Locking Specific Chats for Privacy

For added privacy, WhatsApp users can now lock specific chats. This is helpful if someone gains access to your phone and tries to read your messages. You can lock sensitive chats using a fingerprint, passcode, pattern or Face ID. To enable this feature, go to Settings > Privacy > Chat Lock.

  1. Instant Messaging Without Adding Contacts

You can now send messages on WhatsApp without saving the recipient’s contact information. Simply enter their phone number, select the country code, and send the message—there’s no need to clutter your contact list with one-time contacts.

  1. Editing Sent Messages

If you made a typo, you no longer need to delete the entire message. WhatsApp now allows you to edit sent messages. To edit a message:

  • Long-press the message you want to edit.
  • Tap the Edit button from the list of options that appears.

This feature is especially useful for correcting mistakes in individual or group chats.

  1. Sending Photos and Videos in HD Quality

WhatsApp now supports HD photo and video sharing, preserving the original quality of your media files without compression. Users can enable HD mode to ensure better clarity and detail when sharing visuals.

  1.  Creating and Using Avatars

WhatsApp allows you to create a custom avatar (a digital version of yourself) directly within the app. You can personalize your avatar’s hairstyle, eyewear, and outfits. Avatars can be used as stickers in chats or even set as your profile picture.

  1. Pinning Important Messages

The Pin Message feature allows you to highlight essential information in a chat, making it easier to find without scrolling endlessly. This is particularly useful in group chats where messages can be buried under new ones. Use this feature to pin crucial details such as:

  • Event dates
  • Meeting times
  • Important announcements
