Police Constable Hiram Kimathi, who gained national attention for defying controversial “shoot-to-kill” orders issued by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, has revealed that his life remains in danger.
In an exclusive interview with Nixon Njau, a digital journalist at The Kenya Times, Kimathi stated that he is still being hunted by unknown individuals following his public criticism of the state’s directive to use force against violent protesters.
Kimathi, previously stationed at Kyumbi Police Station in Machakos County, was transferred to the remote Todonyang Police Station on the Kenya-Ethiopia border, a move he described as punitive for speaking out.
He further stated that he had served in those places earlier, and his assignments to far-flung areas were over.
