Biography
Wanyama is a professional footballer who plays for CF Montreal captained the Kenyan National Team, Harambee Stars in 2013.
Other than football, Wanyama is also a Goodwill Ambassador UNHABITAT and runs a football Academy in Busia with his brother Mariga known as Wanyama Academy.
One of his notable achievements as a footballer is becoming the first Kenyan to score in the UEFA Champions League.
Family
Victor comes from an athletic family with his father, Noah Wanyama, being a former footballer who played as a winger for Premier League club AFC Leopards.
At the same time, his brother Mariga was playing for Inter Milan, while his other two brothers, Sylvester and Thomas, are also well-known footballers.
However, his only sister Mercy chose a different sport and followed a career path as a professional is a basket baller. She currently plays professionally in Spain.
Victor Wanyama Career
Wanyama played in all six of Kenya’s qualifiers for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and represented the national team at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
He announced his retirement from international football in September 2021, ending a 14-year international career.
Over the past year, Wanyama has been a key player for Montreal Impact FC, leading them to win the Voyageurs Cup, his first title with the club.
His performance has earned him a nomination for the 2021 Most Valuable Player Award, following 27 appearances for the team.
