President William Ruto has commented on the ongoing retrieval of dead bodies at a quarry in Mukuru kwa Njenga slums in Nairobi County.
Speaking in Elgeyo Marakwet on Saturday, July 13, Ruto said nine dead bodies have been found, most of them being girls.
Ruto said the government is still conducting investigations to establish the cause of the deaths.
The President stated that he has directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), National Police Service (NPS) and all the agencies involved in investigating homicide incidents to look into the matter.
“We must find all those who were involved in the deaths of these people, and they will face the full force of the law,” he said.

Ruto stated that the government will pursue those involved in the killings, emphasizing that they have committed a crime against the law and humanity.
“We will punish them because killing a Kenyan in any way is against the Constitution and the human rights of any nation,” Ruto said.
The President explained that the agencies tasked with investigating such cases should speed up the process of finding the suspects.
Ruto emphasized that the law will be applied to the fullest extent when dealing with those found guilty of killing other Kenyans and dumping the bodies in the quarry.
“Those who are charged with making sure that there are comprehensive investigations on matters that we have witnessed in quarry where many Kenyans including young girls have lost their lives that process must be expedited, and the truth must be found so that those who are involved in this heinous act must be punished and taken to court and the law must be applied to its fullest extent,” Ruto said.
Ruto Plea to Kenyans
Besides, Ruto asked Kenyans to protect the country and avoid divisive politics that result to chaos and destructions.
He explained that all citizens must work towards building a peaceful, democratic and prosperous nation.
“All of us have only one country called Kenya, and we don’t have a spare nation. We should not allow our country to experience chaos, deaths and destruction of property because of politics. We don’t have anywhere to move to, we are here, and we must protect this nation,” he said.
