Safaricom M-PESA Africa has opened applications for a six-month internship program named the Accelerate 360, targeting recent graduates.

The six-month internship aims to equip young talent with practical skills and firsthand experience in Africa’s fast-growing fintech sector.

Designed for ambitious individuals aged 21–26, the program promises full-circle exposure to real projects and mentorship from some of the continent’s top digital finance minds.

“Once you’re in, you’re part of our talent pool and will be considered for roles as they come up. When the program ends, you’ll leave with sharper skills, a clearer sense of direction, and a network that can power your next move.

“If you’re ready to learn, stretch, and accelerate your potential, we can’t wait to meet you!” announced Safaricom.

What Successful Interns Will do at Safaricom

Successful applicants will be trained in key departments, including UI/UX Design – Working on real user experiences across multiple African markets.

Others will be trained on Risk and Compliance – Gaining insight into data privacy and compliance in a regulated fintech environment.

The 360 Internship Program will also train successful applicants on Strategy & Partnerships – Supporting decision-making processes through data and market analysis.

Project Administration, Service Operations, Legal Affairs, Supply Chain, and Human Resources also feature among the available tracks.

In addition to day-to-day project involvement, interns will participate in structured learning sessions, receive mentorship, and contribute to community impact through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects.

Moreover, Safaricom indicated that every intern will be assigned to active teams working on ongoing projects that stretch across M-PESA’s continental reach.

Also, the telecommunication company promises participants hands-on experience in technical operations, service optimization, legal compliance, design thinking, and strategic decision-making.

Interns will also benefit from structured learning sessions, coaching by M-PESA leaders, and participation in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects aimed at strengthening their social impact.

Eligibility and How to Apply

The program is open to Kenyan youth aged between 21 and 26 years who have completed their coursework or graduated within the past year and are currently not in permanent employment.

Applicants must be available full-time for the six-month period.

Participants will receive a monthly stipend, access to learning and development resources, and become part of the growing Accelerator Alumni Community — giving them priority consideration for future job openings within the company.

Applications are open until Monday, May 26, 2025, at 11:30 AM EAT. Interested candidates can apply online via the Safaricom Careers Portal.

The selection process includes application screening, a technical assessment, virtual interviews, and an in-person group interview.

M-PESA Africa, which plays a critical role in advancing digital financial inclusion across several African markets, says the program aligns with its broader mission to nurture African talent capable of innovating for the continent.
