Treasury Announces Senior Job Vacancies: Requirements, Positions and How to Apply

The National Treasury Has Announced Senior-Level Vacancies At The Newly Established National Infrastructure Fund (Nif) For Qualified Candidates.

The National Treasury has announced senior-level job vacancies at the newly established National Infrastructure Fund (NIF), seeking experienced professionals to help build and manage it.

Among the positions vacant are Chief Financial & Operating Officer (CFO/COO), Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Chief Engineer, and Chief Legal & Risk Officer/Corporation Secretary.

The Chief Financial & Operating Officer (CFO/COO) will oversee NIF’s financial management, treasury operations, accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, audit, and financial controls.

The officer will also supervise corporate functions, including human resources, information technology, procurement, and administration.

According to NIF, the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) will lead NIF’s investment activities, including infrastructure project development, investment evaluation, financial structuring, project finance, capital mobilization, portfolio management, and investment exits.

Successful applicants for the Chief Engineer position will provide technical leadership across NIF’s infrastructure portfolio.

The CIO will also lead feasibility studies, project development, technical due diligence, design, procurement, construction, contract management, cost control, project supervision, testing, and commissioning.

On the other hand, the Chief Legal & Risk Officer/Corporation Secretary will lead NIF’s legal, transactional, enterprise risk, and governance functions.

Moreover, the officer will also handle infrastructure and project-finance transactions, construction and FIDIC contracts, financing arrangements, legal due diligence, risk management, Board governance, and Corporation Secretarial responsibilities.

Interested candidates should submit their application before 5:00 p.m on September 9, 2026.

“Applications should be received not later than 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 9th September 2026. Canvassing in any form, or failure to attach any of the stipulated documents, will lead to automatic disqualification,” the National Treasury job vacancy notice read.

Application Requirements

For the CFO/COO positions, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or a related field.

Further, the candidates must have a recognized professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or CA.

Candidates must also have at least 10 years of relevant experience, including at least five years in a senior financial leadership position.

Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Requirements

For the CIO position, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, accounting, engineering, law, or another relevant discipline.

According to the National Treasury, candidates applying for the CIO positions must have a master’s degree or professional qualification such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, or CA, which is an added advantage.

Applicants must also have at least 10 years of relevant investment experience, including at least five years in a senior investment leadership role.

Chief Engineer and Chief Legal and Risk Requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized university and be registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya as a Professional Engineer with membership of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya, or an equivalent professional body.

The Chief Legal & Risk Officer/Corporation Secretary applicant must have an LL.B degree, admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate, and membership in good standing of the Law Society of Kenya.

In addition, the candidate must be qualified as a Certified Secretary with the required Institute of Certified Secretaries membership.

Applicants must have at least 10 years of legal experience, including five years at senior leadership level.

Across all the vacant positions, candidates are expected to demonstrate strong leadership, integrity, governance, technical competence, and experience working on complex projects or transactions.

Documents Required

Shortlisted candidates will provide a curriculum vitae with at least three referees and their contact details.

Additionally, the applicants must provide a copy of their National Identity Card and relevant statutory clearances as required by Treasury.

Documents include a KRA Tax Compliance Certificate, Ethics and Anti-Corruption clearance, a current Directorate of Criminal Investigations Certificate of Good Conduct, HELB clearance, and clearance from a registered Credit Reference Bureau.

Additional professional membership and standing documents may be required depending on the position.

How to Apply

Applicants must submit their applications in plain sealed envelopes, clearly stating the position being applied for on top of the envelope.

Alternatively, applications may also be hand-delivered to the National Treasury on the 2nd Floor of Treasury Building, Harambee Avenue.

Applicants must also send a soft copy of their applications to [email protected].

Successful candidates will serve on fixed-term renewable contracts, subject to satisfactory performance, with competitive remuneration packages offered according to the level of responsibility and experience.
