Bernard Muriuki began his professional career in 1983 as an Executive Engineer at Kenya Posts, where he was responsible for the installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems.
In 1986, he was promoted to Senior Engineer at the Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (KP&TC), a role he held until 1989
By 1989, Muriuki had advanced to the position of Principal Engineer, continuing to serve at KP&TC until 1992.
In 1992, he transitioned into the education sector, taking up a role at the Kenya College of Communications Technology, where he served for over a decade in academic and administrative roles.
In 2008, Muriuki joined Multimedia University as Deputy Director, where he supported academic planning and institutional management until 2010.
His experience in education and technology policy later led to his appointment in 2014 as a Director at the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Authority, a state agency tasked with regulating and coordinating vocational training in Kenya.
Between 2016 and 2017, he served as the Acting Chairman of the TVET Authority, overseeing key reforms in technical education and skills development.
In 2022, Muriuki transitioned to elective politics and was elected Member of Parliament for Mbeere South Constituency as an Independent candidate.
